Huntington School

Huntington hosted the Year 8 City Wide Rugby League Festival on Tuesday night. 8 teams from the City came along to what was a great evening of rugby. Interest from the Year group was excellent, with a strong squad of 15 players chomping to get some game time. The lads started off the festival with a confident win against York High by 5 tries to 1. Toby and Jamie were instrumental in providing a great platform to attack. Tries from Jacub, Arthur and a first try for Tommy too. Second game and another win, this time against Manor. Our final group match came against a strong Millthorpe team with a tight but deserving draw. It was such a dramatic match with both sides leading, then losing the lead, only for us to score the final try. This meant that the lads, having won 2 and drawn 1, were promoted to play in the final against Sherburn. It was such a close-run match with nothing really separating the two sides. It took a break of tackle to decide the contest, and unfortunately, that score was made by Sherburn with the lads losing by 1 try to nil. It was an absolute pleasure to host and run the Huntington team. Interest is great within the year group, and we will build on our successes next year.
